This is a great overnight escape at all times of the year, and our tour operators will do our best to keep you warm and dry. For example, on the glowworm kayak tour you are provided with wet weather gear and even warm thermal socks and warm drink refreshments. Wet weather gear is also provided onboard our jet boats when required and we have heated hand rails also.

Day 1: Sanctuary Mountain
Your adventure overnight escape begins at Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari. On your guided tour, you will learn about the ecological island, which is a sanctuary for many endangered species such as birds, skinks, geckos, frogs, bats, and insects.
Evening 1: Glowworm Tour
After you’ve checked in at the Hidden Lake Hotel in Cambridge, it’s time to kayak!
Your next adventure takes you on a magical twilight kayak glowworm tour with the professional team at Riverside Adventures, among glowworms that you’ll remember forever. We’ll then take you back to Hidden Lake Hotel for a restful night.

After the Glowworm tour, it’s a short journey back to check in to the serenity of Hidden Lake Hotel in the heart of Cambridge.
A passion for comfort and responsible practice. Rooms are sound proofed and off the ground with lift access provided. Views are a feature of the hotel and spa. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before embarking on another water adventure with CamJet.
Day 2: EXTREME JET BOAT OR RIVER CRUISE
Choose from an Extreme Jet Boat Tour onboard a V8 jet boat or a slower-paced Ecological River Cruise. Either way you’ll travel through the breath-taking scenery between Cambridge and the Karāpiro Dam.
The rest of the day is yours to explore our slice of Waikato paradise.
Use the remainder of the day to explore Cambridge, or add on one of the many other amazing things to do in the area.
GLOWWORM OVERNIGHT ESCAPE WAIKATO TOUR ADDITIONAL INFOMATION
Bookings are essential. Adults only 18 years plus. Not recommended for pregnant people. If you don’t have your own transport, we can arrange a shuttle service for you. Hotel stay and breakfast is for two people. Double kayaks are used on glowworm tours. The temperature does drop as we drift back downstream on this tour so we recommend that you bring warm layers of clothing, preferably merino. We do not recommend wearing jeans as they get very cold when wet. To make your experience as comfortable as possible, we provide you with over pants, splash jackets and aqua shoes. There is a changing area at Riverside Adventures base where you can layer up before embarking on the tour. We also have secure storage facilities where you can leave any additional belongings. Glow worms don’t like camera flashes so please ensure your camera’s flash is turned off after dark. Alcohol or smoking is not permitted during the activities.
